I. Letters and postcards received by Hincksman from the painter Jeffrey Smart, 1970-1988 (ca. 52 items). Mostly written from Arezzo, Italy, the letters refer inter alia to the activities of mutual friends and acquaintances, Smart's creative work, exhibitions, relations with the Australian National Gallery and other galleries, travels in Australia, Europe, Turkey, Japan, South Africa and elsewhere, arrangements for meetings with Hincksman in London, Arezzo and Canberra and general comments on art and artists. Michael (David Michael) Shannon, painter, was born at Kapunda, S. A., in 1927 and died in 1993.
